What is the Longest Lutheran Lunch
The Longest Lutheran Lunch is an annual event of the Lutheran Church of Australia. It is an opportunity for people to connect and re-connect with us. Through God’s gifts of service and hospitality we invite and welcome those who may not feel comfortable coming to worship but are happy to join us in a social setting. This year Holy Cross, Belconnen will be participating in the Longest Lutheran Lunch on Sunday 20 October.
This year, Longest Lutheran Lunch will have a renewed and refreshed focus. The concept of Longest Lutheran Lunch is the same – offering hospitality to connect with our communities, by gathering together at a long table, taking a long time to share a meal together, and holding lunches all the long way from New Zealand to West Australia.
But this year, Longest Lutheran Lunch is being supported by Australian Lutheran World Service, with alignment to the GRACE project, which supports refugee children to go to school. The GRACE Project is a brand new idea to Give Refugees A Chance with Education.
Through The GRACE Project you can support a refugee child at school for a year for $26.
Working together, the GRACE Goal in 2019 is to support 40,000 children in crisis to go to school … to ‘match’ the 40,000 children and young people in Lutheran schools in Australia.
There is no cost for attending the Longest Lutheran Lunch. You are welcome to join us and share in the meal. It will be atime of refreshment and fellowship.
